SAMSON - Sciences, Arts, Medicine and Social Norms
Research programme
The SAMSON research programme aims to examine the construction of societal norms as they result from the intersection of the arts, literature, medicine and science in Central Europe and Russia from the 18th century to the present day. It is led by EUR ORBEM, a joint research unit 8224 (Sorbonne University, CNRS).
Assuming an interdisciplinary prism (history, philosophy, anthropology, art history, social psychology, literary studies, film studies), the project provides an opportunity to bring together French and foreign researchers, each bringing their own expertise and capable of putting into perspective the following working hypothesis: the evolution of normative models within these contexts proceeds from the interactions between developments in science and culture.
Aiming to build a network of researchers in the international academic context, this research programme aims to create institutional links between the humanities and medicine. Its activities take different forms (seminars, study days, colloquia), while also proposing to develop a pedagogical component in the medium term.
